At the 2018 Auto Expo, Yamaha launched the all-new R15. Here is what you need to know about it . . .
The latest model is the third iteration of the 150cc sports bike called the R15 V3, which made its debut in Indonesia last year. And after waiting for months, the new R15 has finally arrived in India. As you can see, the new R15 features an all-new design that’s sharper and more aggressive than before. The front fairing is all-new, and the bike now has a twin-LED head lamp, an LED tail lamp and a full LCD instrument cluster.
The Yamaha R15 V3 launched in Indonesia came with a lot of new features, but to keep prices in check, some of these features aren’t offered with the new R15. For instance, it gets conventional forks and now upside-down forks. Similarly, the tyres are from MRF and not IRC.
The powertrain, however, is all-new. It’s a liquid-cooled 155cc single-cylinder motor that churns out 19bhp and 14.7Nm of torque. The engine comes with variable valve actuation (VVA). Power transmission duties are carried out by a six-speed gearbox and there’s a slipper clutch on offer as well.
The new Yamaha R15 V3 is being launched with just two colour options – Racing Blue and Thunder Grey. It is priced at Rs. 1.25 lakh ex-showroom Delhi.
