Maruti Suzuki Dzire Long Term Review, January 2025 Report
We all know that Maruti Suzuki cars tend to deliver great efficiency figures but that has not been the case with the Dzire thus far.

Just as I was about to go on a long holiday during the Christmas week, Maruti Suzuki sent their new Dzire to the autoX office. Knowing that I would be going around town during the festive period for holiday shopping and other errands, I asked for the keys to this brand-spanking-new sedan. And that is how the Dzire became my sleigh for the holiday season. It would have been perfect if it was red but this blue is alluring too. In fact, the bolder grille design and chunkier headlamps along with the new tail lamps make the car rather attractive. It even made a few of my neighbours come and enquire about the car.
Even though the Dzire sits in the sub-compact sedan segment, my family did not feel it to be that compact. Of course, the front seats are nice and spacious but the second row has plenty of room too. At one point, my brother almost turned it into a mini office as he sat with a big laptop on his lap and his phone placed in the cupholder inside the armrest. And mind you, my brother is also rather tall — 5’11” to be precise. So, if he found enough space for himself and his various gadgets, I doubt most people would have trouble with the amount of space in the second row.
Having driven the new Swift, I was not expecting to be too surprised by the Dzire since the two have the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder motor. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The Dzire has definitely been tuned to be more comfortable than the Swift. You notice it the moment you turn the steering wheel which is much lighter. The Dzire might not be as agile as the Swift but it definitely is more comfy — as one would expect a family sedan to be. The road undulations and speedbreakers I encountered on my usual routes, did not seem as jarring in the Dzire as they do in some other cars.
Curiously, I could not really extract a very impressive mileage figure from the car. Driving the car through usual traffic, I was only able to get it as high as 13km/l. We all know that Maruti Suzuki cars tend to deliver great efficiency figures but that has not been the case with the Dzire thus far. Maybe the car needs to run in a bit more before it can come into its own. We will continue to monitor this metric in the months to come.
Admittedly I did not get to spend a whole lot of time with the new Dzire but I plan to remedy that in the future. Especially after seeing how effortless the manual version is, I cannot wait to clock more miles on this lovely sedan.
