Living with the Kylaq for the past two months has been a revelation. Despite being just under four metres long, Skoda’s SUV feels surprisingly spacious and versatile. The boot offers ample room, and one of my favourite features is the seating. Unlike some of its rivals, the Kylaq’s seats are exceptionally supportive, remaining comfortable even on long drives. Its compact size also makes daily commuting easy – weaving through traffic is effortless, and parking is rarely a challenge. In larger cars, especially in our traffic and parking conditions, this can often be a
major issue.
But the Kylaq’s most endearing quality is its driving appeal. With a slick-shifting six-speed gearbox and a highly responsive engine, the Kylaq truly makes you smile whether you’re driving it in the city or on the highway. At high speeds, it feels planted, and the steering is not only super responsive but also offers a lot of feedback, which is always a welcome feature. Our Kylaq recently completed a 3,000km road trip – you can read about it in our cover story – and my colleagues had nothing but praise for it. Even when pushed hard, it returned an impressive fuel efficiency of nearly 13km/l.
All things considered, while the Kylaq’s build quality is excellent, it’s the driving experience that truly sets it apart. You have to get behind the wheel to truly understand what I mean.
