The young Spaniard Repsol Honda Team rider seems to be absolutely unstoppable. At the Spanish Grand Prix, he showed his dominance and easily took his fourth consecutive win along with his fourth consecutive start at pole position. Marc Marquez blazed down the Jerez track, and recorded the fastest lap of the race with a time of 1’39.841 to secure his first ever victory at the Spanish circuit. His teammate Danni Pedrosa also had another successful race and managed to finish in third position behind Yamaha rider Rossi, who had a terrific race and finished on the podium for the second time this season.

It was a very exciting race, and in the opening corners both Yamaha riders, Rossi and Lorenzo managed to pull away and gain a significant lead. However, Marquez managed to gain back ground quite quickly and had overtaken both the Yamaha riders before the end of the first lap. From that moment on nobody was able to challenge Marquez and he maintained a comfortable lead over everyone else throughout the race. Pedrosa meanwhile battled hard with Lorenzo, and was only able to overtake him on lap 20, but he was unable to pass Rossi despite several attempts and so he had to settle for third place.

Rossi fought hard to keep his second place finish and he defended bravely against the attacking Pedrosa. Rossi did manage to catch up to Marquez but still finished 1.5 seconds behind the Honda Repsol rider. It looked like Rossi had regained his competitive spirit, something we have not seen from him in a while, and this was his first podium finish in Jerez since 2010.

Behind the Honda and Yamaha riders, Andrea Dovizioso from Ducati came in fifth and there was relief for GO&FUN Honda Gresini rider Alvaro Bautista as he picked up his first points of 2014 in sixth position, finishing just 0.112 seconds behind Dovizioso.

With the conclusion of this race, Marc Marquez now has a total of 100 points in the championship standings, and is followed by fellow Honda rider Danni Pedrosa with 72 points. Valentino Rossi is in third with 61 points, and Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso is in fourth with 45 points. The next race is the French GP at the famous Le Mans Circuit.
