Despite Mahindra’s podium, Nissan’s Oliver Rowland stole the spotlight with a smartly timed win in the first race of the Formula E Monaco E-Prix Race 1.

Mahindra Racing marked a strong return to the Formula E podium after more than two years, with Nyck de Vries securing second place in the first race of the Monaco E-Prix. His performance helped the Indian team collect vital championship points and move up to third in the overall Formula E teams' standings. This result highlights Mahindra’s improved pace and signals a competitive comeback in the ongoing electric racing season. The Monaco double header proved to be a turning point for the team, showing they can now challenge the front-runners after a long podium absence. Despite Mahindra’s return to form, it was Nissan’s Oliver Rowland who stole the spotlight in the first Monaco race.
Rowland delivered a well-planned strategy, activating Attack Mode at the ideal time to overtake both Andretti drivers and Nyck de Vries. His smart drive earned him a well-deserved win, strengthening his position in the drivers' championship.
Jake Dennis of Andretti also made an impact with a third-place finish, contributing solid points to his team’s campaign. The Monaco opener showcased sharp racecraft and highlighted key drivers and teams shaping the 2025 Formula E season.
Envision Racing’s Sebastian Buemi took advantage of changing weather and track conditions in the second Monaco E-Prix race. The Swiss driver used Attack Mode to pass de Vries after a tense battle involving Oliver Rowland and Jean-Eric Vergne. Buemi’s win marked his first Formula E victory in nearly six years, while Rowland finished second and Nick Cassidy claimed third.
Following the Monaco Formula E double header, Oliver Rowland leads the 2025 Formula E drivers' standings with a 48-point advantage. The Nissan driver has secured three wins in seven races this season. Antonio Felix da Costa holds second place, with Porsche teammate Pascal Wehrlein close behind in third. Nyck de Vries of Mahindra Racing is fifth overall, while teammate Edoardo Mortara ranks eighth.
In the 2025 Formula E teams' standings, Porsche maintains a narrow seven-point lead over Nissan. Mahindra Racing, boosted by strong results at the Monaco E-Prix, now holds third place. The team trails Porsche by 42 points, setting the stage for a tight championship battle as the Formula E season progresses.

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship now shifts focus to Japan with the Tokyo E-Prix on 17 May 2025. With close battles in both drivers’ and teams’ standings, the Tokyo E-Prix is expected to bring further excitement to the 2025 Formula E calendar.
