Nicolo Bulega has completed his first test on a Ducati MotoGP bike at the Jerez circuit, marking a major step in Ducati’s process to find a replacement for the injured Marc Marquez for the final two rounds of the 2025 season. Ducati has been evaluating riders after Michele Pirro’s recent outings. Bulega has now moved into consideration as Ducati reviews other riders who can adapt quickly to MotoGP machinery. The Jerez outing allowed Ducati to collect technical information about Bulega’s performance and adaptability while giving the rider his first experience with the demands of a premier-class prototype.

The test provided Bulega with his first opportunity to handle MotoGP equipment after completing the 2025 World Superbike season as runner-up. Across a three-hour session, he carried out multiple laps to understand power delivery, braking stability, and tyre behaviour. His run focused on gathering data rather than achieving strong lap times.
Ducati’s interest in Bulega aligns with long-term project planning. His experience using Pirelli tyres in WorldSBK is valuable ahead of MotoGP’s switch to the same supplier in 2027. Ducati sees benefit in a rider capable of supporting on-track performance while contributing to technical development. Bulega’s feedback positions him as an asset for Ducati’s factory programme as it prepares for the next phase of regulation and equipment evolution.
