National Motorcycle Racing: Jagan Kumar and Rajini Krishnan victorious in Group B

The third round of the FMSCI National Motorcycle Racing Championship concluded at a busy Madras Motor Race Track in Chennai on Sunday, with seven different classes making up the event. New to the fray were one-make series from bike manufacturers TVS and Yamaha.

The third round of the FMSCI National Motorcycle Racing Championship concluded at a busy Madras Motor Race Track in Chennai on Sunday, with seven different classes making up the event. New to the fray were one-make series from bike manufacturers TVS and Yamaha.

Group B: Kumar and Krishnan win one race apiece

In the first race of the flagpiece group B category, TVS Racing’s Jagan Kumar lined up a successful move over teammate Harry Sylvester on the last lap to take the winning honours. Deepak Ravi Kumar of Moto-Rev Yamaha Racing completed the podium while Ten10 Racing’s Sarath Kumar had to be content with fourth place.

Jagar Kumar looked set to complete a clean sweep in race two until mechanical problems dropped him down to eight at the chequered flag. 34-year old Rajini Krishnan - who had made his way from fourth on the grid - capitalised on Kumar’s trouble to notch his second victory in as many rounds of the championship.

Group C: Double victory for Mathana Kumar S

Mathana Kumar S took a double victory in the Group C class, enjoying a 10 second victory margin in the second of his triumphs. Harikrishnan R ensured a one-two finish for Ten10 Racing in both the races while the final spot on the podium was shared by Sumit Lucas Toppo (race 1) and Shyam Shankar (race 2).

Group D: Vishwadev Muraleedharan triumphant

Vishwadev Muraleedharan was equally unbeatable as he blazed the Group D class to take a double victory for Sparks Racing. With this set of results, Muraleedharan has won four races in six outings in the championship.

Honda One-Make Series: Sarath Kumar joins list of double winners

Sarath Kumar’s experience was evident in the Honda One-Make series as he won both the races with comfortable ease for Ten10 Racing. Dinesh Kumar D and  Akash P Dingare accompanied Kumar on the podium in race 1 while race 2 saw Sumit Lucas Toppo and  Mathana Kumar S finish on the rostrum.

Suzuki Gixxer Cup: Raj takes double victory

Ananth Raj P continued the pattern followed by riders in other categories as he secured a double victory in the Suzuki Gixxer Cup (Open). Raj was joined by fellow Chennai-born drivers Satish Kumar A and Abhishek Vasudev on the podium in race 1.

Yamaha R15: Kumar and Shankar share wins

The first Yamaha R15 race saw Mithun Kumar take the winning honours from Ramesh Kumar and Padmanaban S. Mithin Kumar was on the heels of Shyam Shankar in the second race but couldn’t find a way past, and had to be content with second.

TVS RTR 160: KY Ahamed shows dominant form

The two TVS RTR 160 races over the weekend were won by Chennai’s KY Ahamed, with Kannan S and Arvind Ganesh R featuring on the podium at both occasions.
