Red Bull’s association with open-wheel racing isn’t unknown in the world of motorsport.  In India, the energy drink brand flagged off the Red Bull Kart Fight – a new platform for budding racers to showcase their talent behind the wheel and experience the racing side of karting. This karting tournament has been designed to find the fastest amateur karting racer in the country.

Interested participants can visit Smaaash sports and entertainment centres in Mumbai and Gurugram. Anyone above the age of 16 years can register at either of these venues. The system will capture the participants' name, contact details, email id and a webcam photo. Following the completion of the registration process, the participants can have a go at the track and their lap times will be recorded. The registration will be directly linked to the kart timing system. The leaderboard will be updated regularly and will reflect the top rankings of the day, week and the month. City finals will be organized based on these lap timings in the first week of August, September, and October. In this city finals, the fastest 20 participants will compete against each other. The top 3 slots of each month will qualify for the National finals. Top 10 timings (including 1 wild card entry) from each city qualifies for the National finals of Red Bull Kart Fight. The national finals will be held in October at the Meco Kartopia in Bangalore. The winner of the Red Bull Kart Fight 2017 will get to enjoy an all-expense paid trip to the 2017 F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the Yas Marina Circuit.

Present at the event was Mira Erda, who is currently racing in the JK Tyre National Racing Championship in the JK Euro Class. Mira commenced her racing career with the National Karting Championship, subsequent to which she graduated to the LGB Formula 4 category.

Interacting with participants at the launch event at SMAAASH, Mira Erda said, “Red Bull Kart Fight is the perfect platform for aspiring racers in the country to test and showcase their racing skills in a safe and confined environment. I wish all the drivers the best and hope to see a lot of girls pushing pedal to the metal at this tournament.”
