The third round of National Racing Championship concluded at Coimbatore’s Kari Motor Speedway on Sunday with Goutham Parekh and Karthik Tharani taking one win apiece in the flagship MRF 1600 category.

In race one, Goutham Parekh pulled away from pole position, beating CS Tejasram by seven seconds. Karthik Tharani finished a second adrift in third while Arjun Narendran slipped to fourth place after spinning out on a damp track.

In race two, it was Karthik Tharani who took top honours, keeping a charging Parekh at bay in the closing stages of the race. The two were separated by just 0.155s when they crossed the finish line after 14 laps of racing.

ITC: Narendran eases to victory

The Indian Touring Car race was a one-man show with defending champion Arjun Narendran leading home a one-two finish for Red Rooster Racing. Deepak Paul Chinnappa finished a distant third to complete the podium.

With slick tyres not conducive for a wet track, the second ITC race of the weekend was cancelled on safety grounds.

IJTC: Kutty takes double win despite penalty

Mumbai’s Fahad Kutty took double victory in Indian Junior Touring Car championship, with his second win the more impressive of the two. Starting from 14th on the grid after a penalty for technical infringement, Kutty charged his way up the field and avoided any incident on a damp track to notch his second victory of the weekend.

The next round of National Racing Championship takes place in Chennai on July 24-26.

Anish Racing’s Mohit Aryan also notched a double win in the Formula LGB 1300 category, but was forced to relinquish the top step on the rostrum to Chetan Korada in race three, who had been quick all weekend.
