BMW and Force Motors Surpass 1 Lakh Engine Production Milestone at Chennai Plant

Powering a BMW X5, the 100,000th unit celebrates ten years of a strong and successful partnership between BMW and Force Motors.

<p>This past month, I was added to a WhatsApp Group of over 40 G87 M2 owners from around the country – G87 is the model code for this generation of M2. And this isn’t your everyday group for pretty pictures and dirty jokes, this is a group of M2 owners who go on track days and exchange notes on brake pad compounds and custom tunes – in other words, a community of proper enthusiasts. Of course, the majority of cars out there are autos, but there are some manuals in the group as well, which was another pleasant surprise.</p>
<p>This past month I haven’t put too many miles on the car, but my shrinking fuel mileage suggests that those miles have been at an ever-increasing pace! What can I say, this is a car that encourages you to push it. And now, with almost 3,000 kilometres on the clock, the engine and transmission have opened up nicely and I seem to be getting more adept at flicking through the gears and steering it on the throttle – both hallmarks of very happy motoring indeed. </p>
<p> And, finally, I thought I’d include a picture of the rear for the first time in one of these long-term reports. People complain about the squared off bumpers – front and rear – but I quite like them. They’re unique, they add character and, of course, muscle. In fact, the stance of this car is such that it always looks like it’s waiting to pounce. Not in an elegant feline way, but more in an impatient rottweiler manner. </p>

It is offered exclusively with rear-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission, emphasising a purist driving experience. Weight-saving measures include a carbon fibre roof, rear spoiler, and other lightweight components, shaving off around 30 kg. The result is a sharper, faster M2 capable of reaching up to 302km/h. </p><h2>2026 BMW M2 CS: Design Details</h2><p>In terms of design, the new M2 CS evolves the look of the standard M2 with subtle but purposeful enhancements that reflect its track-ready intent. Designated S58, this unit now produces 523bhp and 650Nm of torque – offering a marked boost over the automatic-equipped 2025 M2 and bringing it in line with the more powerful M4 Competition xDrive. That said, fans of manual shifting will be disappointed to learn that this version is automatic-only, unlike the older F87 M2 CS, which offered a six-speed manual.</p><p>

The lighter build is attributed to extensive use of carbon fibre and a new set of 19-inch forged wheels finished in matte Gold Bronze, contributing to form and function.<br><br>These changes translate into sharper acceleration. The 0–100km/h dash now takes 3.7 seconds, two-tenths quicker than before. Top speed is electronically limited to 302km/h, 17km/h quicker than the standard M2.<br></p><h2>2026 BMW M2 CS: Cabin Layout and Feature Details</h2><p>The interior mirrors the car’s performance ambitions. Occupants are seated in specially designed M Carbon bucket seats trimmed in Alcantara and Black Merino leather, with trademark M stitching. Designed with serious driving in mind, these seats are lighter than the standard ones, have detachable headrests for helmet use, and allow for racing harness installation.</p><p>
