Audi New Q5 Preview
In the mid-sized SUV segment, Audi’s Q5 is starting to show its age, especially when compared to the Mercedes-Benz GLC and the BMW X3. But Audi is about to change that with the launch of the all-new Q5 by late-2017. On the outside, the new Q5 will sport a completely fresh design that looks contemporary and butch. Just like the larger Q7, this new Q5 will also get the hexagonal grille up front which is surrounded by a brushed aluminium frame. Horizontally stacked headlights with LED Daytime Running Lamps and large air dams on the front bumper give the Q5 a bold stance. The Q5 now looks more chiselled than before courtesy the sharp shoulder line that commences from the edge of the headlight continuing towards the back. Highlights at the back include, LED taillights and a conservatively design tailgate. On the inside, the Q5 gets an all-black treatment with seemingly good quality all around. Like all the other Audi models, the Q5 too will come with the 12.3-inch display for the virtual cockpit. This new-generation Q5 is larger than its predecessor, so expect it to make more space on the inside. Audi offers the Q5 in a range of petrol and diesel engine options globally but in India they are expected to being in just one petrol and one diesel engine option. While the current-gen Q5 is only on sale in India with a diesel engine, the 2017 iteration will be plonked with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder TFSI unit that produces 252hp and 370Nm. This unit comes mated to an 8-speed tiptronic transmission. The Q5 diesel that will make its way into India is expected to come in the 163hp / 400Nm state of tune. The 2017 Audi Q5 will come to India by late-2017. Expect it to be priced marginally higher than the current-gen model. We expect it to be launched at a starting price of around Rs 52 lakh.
