Hyundai New Grand i10 Preview
The popular Hyundai Grand i10 will finally be replaced by an all-new model by October this year. The 2020 model has been spotted testing as a camouflaged mule in India, making identifying its design cues a bit of a challenge. However, we can expect it to be dimensionally larger than the outgoing model.
Design-wise, going by the current trend of modern-day Hyundais, we think the new Grand i10 will be inspired by the design cues on the face-lifted Hyundai Elantra. Expect a larger hexagonal grille, flanked by larger headlights and tail lights. Also, the car will definitely be wider and bit longer in profile for better legroom.
We can assure you that Hyundai will be upping the ante as far as the cabin goes. From what we've seen in spy shots, the seats will be bigger and will sport adjustable headrests as well. The design of the dashboard looks very different too, and now gets an infotainment touchscreen unit mounted in the middle. It also gets, what appears to be, twin dials for the instrument cluster with an information display in the middle. The gear stick lever also looks somewhat identical to the one on the Santro. We also noted circular air vents on either side of the dashboard. The three-spoke steering features a brushed-silver finished lower spoke - a rather sporty touch. Being a Hyundai, it will come with an impressive equipment list too, which might include a sunroof as well.
Under the bonnet will remain the same 1.2-litre petrol motor churning out 81bhp, and a 1.2-litre diesel motor making 73bhp. The engines will continue being paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, with the option of an AMT automatic gearbox as well. When it goes on sale later this year, it will take on Maruti's Swift, Ignis and Ford's Figo.
