Mercedes-Benz AMG C43 Preview
Subsequent to the official unveil of the C-Class facelift, Mercedes-Benz revealed the C43 AMG at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Interestingly, this refreshed C43 AMG gets more than just cosmetic updates – it also has more power than before.
Mercedes-Benz brought the C43 to bridge the gap between the C-Class and the C63. While this updated model continues with the same 4.0-litre bi-turbo V6 motor as before, it has been tuned to churn more power. The 2019 C43 now makes 385bhp – an increase of 23bhp over the model it replaces – and 520Nm. Surprisingly, despite the increase in power, the acceleration to 100km/h remains at 4.7 seconds and the top speed remains unchanged at 250km/h too. This engine still comes mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. In comparison to the model it replaces, this one has a more rear-biased nature, with a split of 31 to 69.
In terms of design, Mercedes-AMG has fitted the C43 with a new grille. The front bumper has also been remoulded. It has also received some minor updates to its aerodynamics. The C43 now comes fitted with a quad pipe exhaust and new wheels. As part of the AMG options package, you can also add a front splitter, side skirts and some more detailing on the body. The interior too has gotten some minor updates. Mercedes has installed an updated infotainment system and also a 12.3-inch display behind the steering wheel.
The C43 AMG is already on sale in India, but it will be replaced by this face-lifted version soon. Expect this performance sedan to go on sale in the latter half of the year.
