Tata Q501 SUV Preview
Following the success of the Nexon, Tata is getting another SUV ready to be added to their product portfolio – a full-sized one this time around though. Based on Land Rover’s L550 platform, this new SUV is codenamed Q501 / H5. Positioned just above the Hexa, this car will lock horns against the likes of the Jeep Compass. Speaking of which, this new SUV will also borrow the 2.0-litre MultiJet II motor from its American rival in question – exact specifications are still unknown though.
Tata has been smartly testing the new SUV with the Land Rover Discovery Sport shell on the outside, which essentially means we don’t yet know what the new SUV will look like. That being said, if the Hexa is anything to go by, we can expect sturdy build quality and premium feel. Just like its sibling, the Tata offering will also go on sale in 5-seater and 7-seater configurations.
Details of this upcoming Tata SUV are still few and far, but we expect it to be introduced towards the end of the year. Considering its place in the company’s portfolio, we expect it to be launched at a starting price of around Rs 13 lakh.
