Volkswagen Vento Highlights
The Volkswagen Vento has been around for a while now, and has catered well to all Volkswagen loyalists who buy these cars for their solid build quality, strong engine performance and features. Overtime the Vento has gone on to become a well-rounded product with its updated equipment list and safety features that compliment its high-quality build very well.
There are a couple of visual changes that are prominent. Up-front, there's a massive three-slat chrome grille that looks identical to the one on the Jetta. The front bumper has been re-shaped, while the rectangular fog lamps have cornering lights integrated in them. Over the bonnet, there are bolder creases. However, the side profile remains the same. At the rear, the new bumper adds to the Vento width, while there is also a chrome bar across the tailgate that looks quite nice. As you'll notice, there are quite a lot of chrome bits on the car that includes the tailpipe ends, door handles and front and rear bumper.
The Volkswagen Vento variants for the petrol model are as follows: Trendline - Non Metallic, Trendline - Metallic, Comfortline - Non Metallic, Comfortline - Metallic, Highline, 1.2 L TSI Highline, 1.2 L TSI Highline Plus, while the diesel variants are the same, except for the Highline AT and Highline Plus AT. Features include a rear parking camera, cooled glovebox, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, App Connect, rear AC vents, cruise control, adjustable seats, and keyless entry among other goodies. On the safety front, it gets hill-hold function, dual front airbags, ABS and ESP.
The cabin gets a new light brown and beige colour theme. The levels of fit-and-finish are really good. Everything has a premium-like feel to it. The new Vento also gets a flat-bottom steering wheel that looks sporty. Its front passenger seat can be adjusted from the rear, and the seats offer ample support and good cushioning. At the rear, there is decent knee room and head room, while the back-rest too is nice and firm, allowing for a very comfortable seating position.
Engine Specifications & Performance
The Volkswagen Vento is sold with three engine options: a 1.6-litre petrol engine that makes 103bhp and 153Nm of torque, a 1.5-litre diesel engine that makes 108bhp and 250Nm of torque and a 1.2-litre, turbo petrol motor that produces 103bhp and 175Nm of torque. The 1.2-litre motor is paired to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox, while the 1.5-litre and 1.6 litre motors are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, with the diesel engine getting the option of the 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox as well. The Vento surges ahead with very little effort. And refinement levels seem to have improved as well, while the dual-clutch gearbox works effortlessly. The Vento tackles bumps without any hesitation, especially within city limits. That heavy steering feels pretty direct, and the Vento stays planted at higher speeds.
The Volkswagen Vento's ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure is rated at 20.64kmpl for the diesel model and 16.09kmpl for the petrol model.
