The Monster 821 gains comprehensive updates for the 2018 model year.
Ducati has officially revealed that the updated Monster 821 will be launched in India on May 1, 2018. The 821 sits between 797 and 1200 in the Ducati Monster series. Expect the bike to carry a price tag of around Rs. 10 lakh – 11 lakh.
Updates given to the Monster 821 reflect certain design elements of the original Monster 900. In fact, Ducati is celebrating the Monster 900’s 25th anniversary with the new 821. So, the bike changes its shape by adopting a completely redesigned tank and tail end – both inspired by the classic 900. A new silencer and headlight are also part of the new design.
Powering the 2018 Monster 821 is an 821cc, Testastretta twin-cylinder motor that makes 108bhp of power and 86Nm of torque. Feature wise, the 2018 model sports a colour TFT display that provides selected gear information and fuel indicators. The Ducati Quick Shift up/down and the Ducati Multimedia Systems are offered as accessories.
There is also the Ducati Safety Pack, which comprises Bosch ABS and Ducati Traction Control, both of which have adjustable intervention levels. The on-board riding modes adjust ABS, DTC and power modes (controlling peak power and type of delivery) as well.
The fiercest rival of the Monster 821, given its expected price tag, will be the Triumph Street Triple RS, which produces more power but less torque as compared to the former.
