2022 Honda CB300R Recalled in India; Here's Why

Honda has issued a recall for select 2022 CB300R models in India due to a crankcase cover issue. According to the company, the right crankcase cover of the bikes may have a manufacturing flaw, causing the sealing plug to come loose due to heat-induced low retention force.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has recalled one of its motorcycles sold in the country through BigWing dealerships. The bikemaker has recalled approximately 2000 units of the 2022 Honda CB300R Edition in India. For those unaware, the recall was issued to rectify a manufacturing flaw in the engine's right crankcase cover. The firm stated clearly in its release that the right crankcase cover of these CB300Rs may have been improperly manufactured. Due to the low retention force brought on by the heat, the sealing plug may become loose as a result. If the sealing plug fails, engine oil may spill out and inflame the hot parts of the bike. It could also cause the oil to come into contact with the tyre, reducing grip; hot oil, if splashed on the rider's body, could also cause serious injuries. Customers of the CB300R will receive calls, emails, or SMS from Honda advising them to take their motorcycles to the nearby BigWing dealership for an inspection.

Customers can also check whether their CB300R is affected by the recall by going to BigWing's official website and entering the VIN of their bike. Notably, beginning on April 15, 2023, dealerships all over India will begin replacing the damaged parts. Additionally, this replacement will be free of charge even after the bike's warranty has expired.
