The largest motorcycle from Triumph named the Rocket III will be updated for 2019 with a new design and a more powerful engine.

The Rocket III is a massive motorcycle. We have ridden it before on many occasions, and in fact, it's one of our favourite power cruisers of all time. The Rocket III has been around for a while now. It's such a powerful and impressive piece of firepower, that it didn't require an update for a long time. However, at a recent dealer meeting, Triumph announced that they've been working on a new version of the Rocket III, and it will be ready for lift-off in 2019.

A design sketch was unveiled and a prototype of the new Rocket III was also ridden on the stage. From what we can make out, the new Rocket III will have a heavily redesigned body. A lot of the stuff on the bike looks new. It now gets a new rear tyre and a single-sided swingarm. It also gets a new seat, new handlebars and new lights. The seating position also looks different, and this suggests that it's likely that will see a wide range of different models with the Rocket III nameplate.

Aside from the design, Triumph has also announced that the new 2.5-litre in-line triple engine will be tuned to make in excess of 180bhp. That is some serious firepower, and Triumph is looking to blow past the Ducati Diavel, which is its main competitor. Even its torque figures are truly astounding, and it may be as much as 80 per cent more powerful than the Italian power cruiser.

The Rocket III will also get some amazing new technology. Traction control, ABS, riding modes, LED lights, a full TFT display, Bluetooth, as well as GoPro and Google Maps will most probably be some of the key highlights in terms of features.

The Rocket III will most probably be launched sometime in the middle of 2019, and in the following year, we expect to see more models based on the same platform.
