Research conducted by the company revealed that owners prefer to charge their electric vehicles overnight. With that in mind, Ather has not introduced a new home charging solution.

From the time of its launch last year, Ather has connected all the dots with respect to electric vehicles super effectively. To address the hesitation caused by range anxiety, the company even established their own charging stations, Ather Grid, before officially launching the products in Bengaluru and Chennai. Ather’s effort to really establish itself as a strong player in the electric two-wheeler space is indeed praiseworthy. In a bid to offer thoroughgoing service to customers they have now launched the Ather Dot – a new home charging solution for their products.

Data collected by Ather since its launch revealed that customers prefer charging their electric vehicles overnight. The Ather Dot has been developed keeping this factor in mind. Just like the scooter, the Ather Dot also has app integration. To ensure good health of the battery, it even has an auto cut-off. With the Dot, the charging time is 4 hours 30 minutes for up to 80% charge and 5 hours 15 minutes for a full charge.

The Ather Dot carries an installation cost ₹ 1,800 (inclusive of labour charges) and can be purchased only by new customers. Further, owners who wish to get their electricians to install the charger can have the unit shipped along with the installation manual. The Bengaluru-based electric vehicle maker will offer the Ather Dot to all customers who will take delivery of their 450 from October 2019.

Ather Energy came into the market in 2018 with two products, 340 and 450. They commenced operations in their home market, Bengaluru, and have recently expanded to Chennai. The company is already setting up Ather Grids in the NCR and is expected to be launched soon. With the recent reduction in the GST, Ather Energy announced a price cut of Rs 9,000 on the 450 and Rs 8000 on the 340. The scooters are now priced at Rs 1.13 lakh and Rs 1.02 lakh respectively – on-road in Bengaluru.
