The middle-weight scrambler and adventure tourers from Benelli will be joined by a cruiser. Benelli is all set to unveil its 502C cruiser motorcycle in India with a launch expected in the coming months.
Benelli has confirmed that the 502C middle-weight cruiser will be launched in India. The company will unveil the 502C tomorrow i.e July 8, 2021. The Benelli 502 Cruiser – 502C in short – is already on sale in the international market and the model complies with the Euro 5 emission norms. The Euro 5 emission norms equate to the BS6 standards in India, hence the motorcycle can easily be positioned in a segment between the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Kawasaki Vulcan S.
The 502C gets a 500cc parallel-twin unit that we’ve experienced in the Leoncino 500, and the TRK 502 twins in India. The power output is rated at 47bhp at 8,500 and 46Nm at 6,000rpm. The gearbox is a six-speed unit and we reckon, Benelli might tweak the final drive ratio of the 502C to suit well to its cruiser character.
The suspension units are up-side-down forks in the front and a monoshock in the rear. The cycle parts are shared between the Benelli TRK 502 and the Leoncino 500. The wheel size is 17-inch on both-end. For braking, the 502C uses a twin-disc set-up in the front and a single disc in the rear.
Benelli India has not confirmed the launch date yet, but the 502C is expected to debut in the Indian market before the festive season. Expect a price tag between Rs 5-5.25 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. Will the launch of Benelli 502C make the Honda two-wheelers India consider the Rebel 500 for India? It is too soon to come to a conclusion.
