It's been a long time coming, but BMW Motorrad has finally made it happen - the much-awaited G 310 twins are now on sale in India.

The wait is over! The BMW Motorrad G 310 twins have finally gone on sale in India. With a price-tag of Rs 2.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the BMW G 310 R will be the most affordable motorcycle from the manufacturer, while the G 310 GS – priced at Rs 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom) – will cater to the demands of customers looking for a sub-500cc adventure tourer.

The BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS are based on the same platform, which they also share with the TVS Apache RR 310. Both the motorcycles are powered by a 313cc, single-cylinder engine that develops 33.5bhp and 28Nm of torque. Power transmission duties are carried out by a 6-speed transmission.

While both the bikes share the same frame, the G 310 GS gets a couple of modifications to qualify as an adventure tourer. For instance, despite using the same 41mm front fork, the front suspension travel of the GS is 180mm - 40mm more than the G 310 R. Additionally, it gets bigger 19-inch front wheel (as opposed to 17-inch of the G 310 R) and the seat height (835mm) is a full 50mm higher than the naked version. Tipping the scales at 169.5kg, the G 310 GS also weighs 10 kilograms more than the G 310 R.

In terms of features and equipment, both the motorcycle get dual-channel ABS and a digital instrument cluster as standard. Braking system comprises a 300mm front disc and 240mm rear disc. Three colour options are available on both the models, namely, Racing Red, Cosmic Black, Pearl White/Style HP (for Rs 10,000 extra!).

BMW Motorrad is offering a 3 year/unlimited kilometers warranty on both the bikes. Customers can also extend warranty for fourth and fifth year. Interestingly, BMW is also offering "all-inclusive" finance options with monthly installments starting at Rs 6,999 for the G 310 R and Rs 7,999 for the G 310 GS.

Both the BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS are manufactured in India at TVS’ production unit in Hosur. At present BMW Motorrad operates in India through 7 dealerships across Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi and Pune. Two new dealerships in Chandigarh and Kolkata are also going to start operations soon, but customers in these cities can book the G 310 twins now.
