Ducati's heavyweight adventure tourer Multistrada 1260 will get the more hardcore Enduro version, featuring long travel suspension, off-road tyres and a bigger fuel tank.
Come July 9, 2019, Ducati India will be bringing the new Multistrada 1260 Enduro into the country. Revealed in 2018, the Multistrada 1260 Enduro replaces the Multistrada 1200 Enduro and, just like the old model, it’s a hardcore off-road version of Ducati’s flagship adventure tourer.
Like the standard Multistrada 1260, the Enduro version is powered by the same 1,262cc Testastretta DVT V-Twin engine that pushes out 156bhp and 127Nm of torque. More than 85 per cent of the torque is available from as low as 3,500rpm, claims Ducati. The engine is paired to a six-speed transmission.
But apart from that, the 1260 Enduro comes with a lot of modifications over the standard Multistrada 1260. First and foremost, it gets a recalibrated electronic semi-active suspension that offers 185 mm travel at the front and rear. In addition to that, it comes with chunky 19-inch front and 17-inch off-road tyres fitted to spoke wheels. The fuel tank is also bigger at 30 litres.
Off-road bits and bobs aside, the Multistrada 1260 Enduro will get the same set of electronic aids like the regular Multistrada 1260. This means it has got ride-by-wire throttle, Ducati Quick Shift (DQS), Bosch Cornering ABS, cornering lights, Ducati Wheelie Control, Ducati Traction Control, et al. The bike also gets a 5-inch TFT display.
The Multistrada 1260 Enduro is expected to carry a price-tag of around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, it’ll compete with other heavyweights of the segment, mainly the BMW R 1250 GS and Triumph Tiger 1200.
