The covers are off! The 2020 Suzuki V-Strom 1050 has now been unveiled at EICMA. It looks sharper, packs more power and has a longer list of features than before including cruise control, hill hold and more
The unveiling of the new Suzuki V-Strom was possibly the worst kept secret at EICMA this year. Prior to its official unveiling today, Suzuki had released a couple of teaser videos that, in our opinion, were a bit too obviously hinting at the new V-Strom. Now that the bike has finally been showcased, let's take a closer look.
The 2020 V-Strom look a lot sleeker and sharper than the model it replaces. As we expected, the overall design looks somewhat inspired by the DR Big from the 1980s. Up front, it comes fitted with a square headlight, an angular front beak and a tall windscreen. It gets a large fuel tank, a split seat and a chunky grab rail. Just like its competitors, the 2020 V-Strom too comes with a fully-digital LCD instrumentation. The 2020 V-Strom also has a long list of features including a three-axis IMU with traction control, hill hold, riding modes, cruise control and more.
The new V-Strom 1050 is based on the same engine as the outgoing model – a 1,037cc V-twin motor that is good for 106 horses and 100Nm. This engine comes paired with a six-speed transmission. Suzuki will bring in the V-Strom in two variants – standard and the XT. The former will come fitted with alloy wheels and will be the road-focused trim. Sitting on spoke wheels, the XT will be the off-road-focused variant. That being said, both variants will come with a 19-inch wheel up front and a 17-inch one at the rear. Both trims come with adjustable upside-down forks at the front and a pre-load adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are performed by twin 310mm discs up front and a disc setup at the back as well.
Suzuki India has not yet announced when the new 2020 V-Strom will make it to Indian shores, but we expect it to be launched around mid-2020. The 2020 V-Strom is likely to demand around Rs 1 lakh more than the model it replaces.
