Honda was one of the first two-wheeler manufacturers to commence the switch to BS6 in September last year. Even the updated BS6 iterations of the Activa and the Shine continue to bring Honda good numbers

Just none months since Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India’s (HMSI) first BS6 product went on sale, the company has already recorded sales of more than 1.1 million units. HMSI commenced its BS6 assault with the Activa 125 in September last year and has been gradually upgrading its portfolio to meet the new emission norms. As you’d expect, the Activa and Shine continue to lead the charge for Honda even in this BS6 era. In the 2019 calendar year, Honda registered sales of more than 5 million units.

Speaking about the achievement and the current market situation, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Director – Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “It’s a matter of great pride for us at Honda, that our 11 advanced BS-6 models have won the vote of confidence & created a new Joy of riding amongst Customers across India. As many customers are now preferring personal mobility for safety and hygiene in the challenging times of New Normal, Honda is unlocking new value with its many initiatives like online bookings, attractive retail finance schemes, industry first up to 6 year’s warranty option etc. Moving forward, we are confident that millions of Indians will continue to realize their dreams of mobility with Wings of Honda.”

The latest BS6 motorcycle to be launched was the X-Blade earlier this month. Honda has also pulled the plug on a few of its models that weren’t bringing in the numbers like the Cliq, Activa-i, Aviator and the CBR250R. Aside from BS6 models, Honda had plans to introduce five new products in the premium motorcycle space this year, that plan, now seems to be delayed in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
