Gets minor cosmetic updates and a BS IV compliant engine

With just a few days left before the BS IV mandate sets in, manufacturers will now announce the last few models that are left to be updated. Just a few days back, we reported that Kawasaki has launched their BS IV compliant Ninja300. Today, Honda has their updated Dio with minor cosmetic updates and a BS IV compliant engine. The updated Honda Dio has been priced at Rs 49,132 (ex-showroom Delhi)

While the overall silhouette of the updated Honda Dio remains unchanged, the headlights now get a bold black surround. Talking about headlights, like the Activa and the Honda Activa 125, the Dio to will now come with the Auto Headlamp On (AHO) feature. This means the headlight switch on the handle bar has been given a miss. Other changes include new graphics all around. This refreshed Dio also come with new bright colour options – vibrant orange, pearl sports yellow, sports red, matte axis grey metallic and candy jazzy blue.

Hiding under the seat of the Dio is the same 109.19cc engine that churns out 8bhp and 8.91Nm. This engine comes paired with a V-matic transmission. Thanks to the Honda Eco Technology (HET), the Dio claims to return an efficiency of 60km/l.

Sales of the Honda Dio haven’t quite been consistent over the last one year. February to May weren’t great months for the scooter in terms of sales but then it saw a sudden spike in its monthly sales. Towards the end of 2016 demonetisation had a part to play in the low sales numbers too but with the change of the calendar year, the company has somewhat recovered.
