Royal Enfield has launched Road Side Assistance (RSA) program for its customers in India. All new Royal Enfield motorcycles will come with one year of free RSA while current owners will have the option to buy the service. However, that will only be available for customers whose motorcycles are not old than 5 years.

Under the coverage, Royal Enfield motorcycles facing mechanical or electrical breakdown on the road will be provided with free assistance by sending technicians at the location. Free towing will also be provided within 100 kilometers in case of mishaps or accident. If the distance is more than 100 kilometers, customers will be charged extra. The RSA also covers fixing unexpected problems like punctures, low fuel, battery drainage etc.

Existing owners, whose motorcycles are not old than 3 years, can buy the RSA policy for a premium of Rs 800 while those having a 3 to 5 year old Royal Enfield will have to shell out Rs 1,000. For motorcycles older than 5 year old, Royal Enfield won’t be offering the RSA policy.

The company’s decision to introduce RSA is a welcome move, especially considering the fact that a majority of Royal Enfield owners love travelling on their bikes to remote areas.
