The TVS Akula 310 concept’s production version will finally hit the road next month.
Since it was first showcased as the Akula 310 concept at Auto Expo 2016, the 310cc sportsbike from TVS has been one of the most anticipated motorcycles in India. However, the launch of the bike was delayed numerous times (just like that of its mechanical cousin from BMW) due to reasons best known to TVS. In mid-2017, industry rumours suggested that the Akula could be joining the Apache series in its production avatar. The rumours have turned out to be true it seems.
The RR 310 is the first fully faired production TVS motorcycle, which has been developed in collaboration with BMW Motorrad, alongside the latter’s G 310 series. The RR 310 will share the same 313cc, single cylinder engine with the G 310 series. However, expect TVS to retune the motor to better suit the RR 310’s sportsbike instincts. In the BMW G 310 series, this engine produces 33.5bhp and 28Nm.
The Apache RR 310 will be manufactured alongside the upcoming BMW 310 duo at TVS’ Hosur plant, on a new assembly line made exclusively for these bikes. The Apache RR 310 is expected to be priced around the Rs. 1.50 lakh - 1.70 lakh mark. At that price, the RR will go head to head with the KTM RC 200, KTM Duke 250 and Benelli TNT 25.
