TVS has launched a new, more affordable ‘V1’ variant of the Orbiter electric scooter in India. The scooter is priced at Rs 49,999 with the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plan, while the outright purchase price stands at Rs 84,500 (ex-showroom, including the PM e-Drive subsidy). When the Orbiter EV went on sale last year, it was exclusively offered in the V2 trim at Rs 99,900 (ex-showroom). The new V1 model undercuts the top-spec model by about Rs 15,000.
Gaurav Gupta, President – India 2W Business, TVS Motor Company, said, ‘TVS Motor has built a strong and well-defined EV portfolio, and the launch of TVS Orbiter V1 further strengthens this lineup by introducing the most accessible entry point into our electric scooter range. Alongside this, the introduction of BaaS represents an important shift in customers’ approach to EV ownership. By separating the vehicle price from the battery usage cost, we are enabling greater flexibility while providing customers a clear understanding of the overall cost of ownership.’
Here’s all you need to know about the TVS Orbiter V1 in detail.
The entry-level V1 variant of the TVS Orbiter electric scooter uses a smaller 1.8kWh battery pack, unlike the higher-spec V2, which is equipped with a larger 3.1kWh unit. As a result, the V1 offers a claimed IDC range of 86 kilometres, whereas the V2 can travel up to 158 kilometres on a single charge.

Charging-wise, the V1 takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes to replenish from 0 to 80%. Meanwhile, the V2 requires around 4 hours and 10 minutes.
The V1 electric scooter maintains a simple, straightforward look. It also carries forward most of the equipment seen on the V2, while targeting first-time EV buyers and everyday urban commuters. It features a flat 290mm floorboard and a long 845mm upright seat, as well as a notable 34-litre under-seat storage that is said to be capable of holding two helmets. Other highlights include 14-inch front and 12-inch rear wheels, a coloured LCD display with incoming call alerts, Eco and Power riding modes, reverse parking assist, hill-hold assist, and cruise control.
