Yamaha celebrates its 60th birthday by unveiling its limited edition YZF-R1

Yamaha has decided to produce a very exclusive, limited-edition 60th anniversary special YZF-R1 to celebrate its 60th birthday. The year was 1955 the guys at Yamaha made their first bike ever known as YA-1.

Yamaha has decided to produce a very exclusive, limited-edition 60th anniversary special YZF-R1 to celebrate its 60th birthday.

The year was 1955 the guys at Yamaha made their first bike ever known as YA-1. What happened then onward became an era which changed the world of motorcycling across the globe.

To mark its 60th birthday, Yamaha has decided to make very limited number of its 60th Anniversary Special YZF-R1 which will go on sale in 2016. The limited-edition R1 will carry Yamaha’s iconic Yellow and Black livery. The bike has also been provided an Akrapovic slip-on exhaust.

The limited edition YZF-R1 will be powered by the existing 998cc, inline four, crossplane engine which produces a massive 197bhp of power and 112.4Nm of torque and is found in the current generation of the YZF-R1.

The bike will be available at Yamaha dealerships across the world December 2015 onwards. In 2016 the bike will also be available in Race Blu and Racing Red with a little design update.
