The 2018 AMaze is offered in four variants - E, S, V and VX. Only V and S variants get the CVT gearbox option.
Honda has launched the second-generation model of its Amaze compact sedan in India. The car costs ₹5.59 lakh for the base petrol model and ₹8.99 lakh for the top diesel CVT model (ex-showroom).
The 2018 Amaze is the first car in its segment to offer a 7-step CVT gearbox option with both petrol and diesel engines. The engines on the car are carried over from the old model, which means that the familiar 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel powertrains propel the car. Interestingly though, the diesel CVT - at 79bhp and 160Nm - is less powerful than the diesel manual, that pumps 99bhp and 200Nm.
The new Amaze has been developed at Honda R&D Asia Pacific, which is located in Thailand. The car, which is based on a brand new platform, made it world debut at the 2018 Auto Expo in February. The 2018 Amaze is lighter and more spacious than the car it replaces. The ARAI certified fuel economy figures for the car stand at 19.5km/l for petrol manual, 19km/l for petrol CVT, 27.4km/l for diesel manual and 23.8km/l for diesel CVT models.
The new Amaze adopts Honda’s new design language, and therefore features a wide chrome grille up front that’s fitted above a honeycomb mesh. The rear gets unique boomerang shaped tail lights. Since the Amaze has been designed as a sedan from ground up, it looks relatively proportionate by compact sedan standards. The interior, too, sports a brand new design and improved built quality.
The car competes with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Tata Tigor, VW Ameo and Hyundai Xcent. Below is the detailed price list of the 2018 Honda Amaze.
