Citroen C5 Aircross is all set to debut in the Indian market, however, with only an automatic diesel variant. The crossover SUV will be sold via the CKD route and is expected to be priced between Rs 28 and 30 lakh (ex-showroom).
Like most things in 2020, Citeroen's plan to enter into the Indian market was postponed owing to the pandemic. However, now the French carmaker has confirmed the dates of its first product debut in the Indian market. The C5 Aircross will be the first car to be launched by Citroen on April 7, 2021.
The Citroen C5 Aircross will rival Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson. It will also share the market space with the Skoda Karoq, Honda CR-V, and the soon expected 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan 5-seater. However, the latter three cars are equipped with a petrol engine only. And the Citroen C5 Aircross will be offered only with a diesel drivetrain.
The C5 Aircross gets a 2.0-litre diesel engine, which produces 174.3bhp and 400Nm of torque. The gearbox is an eight-speed automatic unit, and the SUV will be available in a Front-wheel-drive layout only. We have already driven the upcoming Citroen C5 Aircross, and you can read the full First Drive review here. Earlier this month, the manufacturer commenced pre-bookings for the C5 Aircross at a token amount of Rs 50,000. Citroen also announced a five-year or 50,000km complimentary maintenance package for customers who will pre-book the C5 Aircross before April 6th, 2021.
Citroen has also inaugurated its first dealership in Ahmedabad. And so far, the company also has its presence in 10 cities of India – Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Gurugram, Delhi, Kolkata, Kochi, and Chennai. Citroen also commenced the manufacturing of the C5 Aircross in January this year, and the first C5 Aircross rolled off from the Thiruvallur facility in Tamil Nadu on January 28, 2021.
