The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross made its debut in 2015, and since then the crossover SUV has been receiving its share of routine updates. Now, the firm is all set to bring in an all-new generation of the S-Cross later this month.

Suzuki will reveal the new generation of the S-Cross on November 25, 2021. The new crossover SUV will go on sale in international markets by the end of this year. Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the new generation of the S-Cross in India by the first quarter of 2022. When launched, it will take on the likes of the Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster, Kia Seltos, and Hyundai Creta.

Here are a few things that we expect from the upcoming 2022 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross.

Platform

The new Maruti Suzuki S-Cross will mostly be based on the brand’s HEARTECT platform, which is expected to make the car safer and perform better during crash tests. The current Suzuki S-Cross (international spec), equipped with seven airbags, has scored five stars in the ASEAN NCAP crash test.

Engine

The 2022 S-Cross is likely to continue with the same 1.5-litre petrol engine. The firm, however, could also bring in a smaller capacity turbocharged motor, which will be offered with the higher variants. We suspect that Suzuki’s 140bhp 1.4-litre turbo-petrol Booster Jet engine will make its India debut with the new-gen S-Cross.

Styling

The 2022 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross will sport a more evolved styling compared to the outgoing model on sale. It will most probably have a raided bonnet, offering a more SUV-like feel to the driver. The fascia will showcase a newly styled grille with sleeker headlamps. The bumpers on both ends will be beefier, and the crossover-SUV will get more pronounced body cladding on the sides.

Features

The cabin will see a complete overhaul as well. The dashboard is likely to sport an all-new layout, and the multimedia system is likely to be upgraded as well. Expect the infotainment to be equipped with a new operating system and a larger screen size. The new crossover SUV will get all-LED headlamps and taillamps as well. Features such as ventilated seats, sunroof, and an all-digital instrument cluster might also make their way into the new S-Cross.

Pricing

The price of the outgoing Maruti Suzuki S-Cross starts at Rs 8.59 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 12.56 lakh (ex-showroom). The new-gen S-Cross is likely to have a sub Rs 9 lakh pricing for the entry-level variants; however, the higher variants could see a substantial increase in price. Expect the top-spec 2022 S-Cross to see a sticker price close to Rs 13.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
