The new Countryman made its India debut at the 2018 Auto Expo.
The next-generation Mini Countryman is set to be officially launched in India on May 3, 2018. The car is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs. 40 lakh.
For its latest generation, the Mini Countryman has made a shift to the BMW Group’s UKL2 platform. As a result, it has grown 200mm longer and 30mm wider. In addition to that, the wheelbase has been increased by 75mm, which translates into 50mm more legroom and 100 litres of extra boot space.
The Countryman is the largest model in Mini’s portfolio. On the outside, the big LED headlamps, hexagonal grille and upright tail-lights have been redesigned in the new model. The rear number-plate has also moved up on the boot-lid from the bumper. Furthermore, the creases on the body are now more prominent, giving it a bit of an aggression.
Inside, you’ll find a large circular-themed central screen, signature instrument cluster with big dials, toggle switches and other characteristic Mini design elements. However, there are a few more inside modifications like vertical air-vents, new infotainment touchscreen and more connectivity options.
Globally, the Countryman is available with five powertrains, including two petrol, two diesel and a plug-in hybrid. Mini also offers its ‘ALL4’ AWD system across the range. It remains to be seen which of these engines make it to India. We think that it’s going to be the more powerful 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines, which are India-bound.
