The long-awaited successor to the Aston Martin DB9 is called the DB11, and it has finally been revealed at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

Images of the Aston Martin DB9’s successor had leaked out on the internet ahead of the car’s official unveil at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Now it's been officially revealed. Billed as the DB11, the new model is claimed to mark significant improvements over the ageing DB9 – which’s understood because its development also included technical inputs from Mercedes-AMG.

Speaking of the new model, the DB11 comes across as a typical Aston Martin – simply put, it’s stunning. The silhouette of the DB11 has hints of the DBX crossover concept while its stubby rear-end with massive haunches remind you of the Bond-exclusive DB10 from Spectre. Usual design elements such as the brand’s signature grille, sweptback headlamps and large sweeping bonnet complete the visual highlights on the DB11.

The interior of the new DB11 mark significant improvements over its predecessor. The cabin of the new Aston has been thoroughly revised, featuring a full-colour 12-inch TFT LCD display that replaces the old car's analogue instrument cluster. A second, centrally-mounted 8-inch TFT screen for infotainment system has also been integrated in the dashboard.

Underpinning the DB11 will be a modified version of the company’s VH aluminium architecture. The DB11 is powered by an all-new 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 petrol engine that is developed in-house by Aston Martin. The V12 develops 600bhp of maximum power output and 700Nm of torque, making DB11 the most powerful production DB model ever. Sending the power reserves from engine to rear wheels is an eight-speed automatic transmission. Performance claims suggest the DB11 will do 0-100km/h in 3.9sec and can reach up to a top speed of 320km/h.

Aston Martin has also equipped the DB11 with "intelligent bank activation and stop-start technology" which shuts down one bank of cylinders during periods of low demand so as save fuel.
