The 605hp, Audi RS7 Performance has been launched in India for Rs. 1.59 crore ex-showroom Delhi.

The Audi RS7 is not really much of a slouch, it has a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 that churns out 560hp and 700Nm of torque. Now anyone with an IQ level of 5 and above will tell you those numbers are phenomenal. And the ones who have driven the car using its launch control system will tell you, the RS7 is kick-to-the-groin quick.

But someone at Audi thought no… 560hp is nothing, and a 0-100km/h time of 3.9 seconds is just not enough to propel four people in the lap of luxury to the extent of indigestion. He proposed more power!

Which is why Audi has taken the same four litre turbo V8 and turned it up to eleven. It now produces a whopping 605hp, only five less than the R8 V10 Plus, and standard torque of 700Nm which goes up to 750Nm when the ‘Overboost function’ in engaged. This more powerful version of the RS7 Sportback is called the RS7 Performance. The engine comes with an eight-speed tiptronic torque convertor automatic gearbox, and the whole car weighs over 2,500 kilograms.

Despite the massive weight of the car, RS7 Performance to reach 100km/h from a standstill in just 3.7 seconds, two-tenths quicker than the standard RS7. It also has a higher top speed of 305km/h opposed to the limited 250km/h on the standard car.

Audi claims the RS7 is all about performance, but is also a good everyday car as it is economical as well. Despite having a 605hp bi-turbo V8, the RS7 performance can return 10.5 km/l in fuel economy. This is done by a cylinder deactivation system which shuts down one of the cylinder banks, turning it into a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. But with a nudge of the throttle, they can be reactivated if required in the blink of an eye.

The RS7 Performance comes with, Matrix LED headlamps, Independent Sports Air Suspension and RS Sports exhaust system, quattro all-wheel drive with Sports Differential, Dynamic Ride Control, Ceramic Disk Brakes and more.

Naturally, all that power cant keep you excited all the time, so Audi has thrown in quite a few clever stuff in the interior of the car to keep you occupied. You get Audi’s MMI infotainment system with navigation and touchpad control that now comes with an Nvidia graphics processor for the power-retractable monitor on the centre console, a BOSE Surround Sound System, four-zone automatic air conditioning, Heads-up display. For an additional cost, Audi will fit the RS7 Performance with a Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System.
