BS-IV compliant 2017 Force Gurkha launched at Rs 8.38 lakh

Force Motors has now launched a new Gurkha which gets updated styling and conforms to BS-IV emission norms and prices start at Rs. 8.38 lakh for the base trim and Rs. 9.36 lakh for the top trim. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi.

The Force Gurkha has finally received an update which allows the car to conform to BS-IV emission norms in India. In addition, Force Motors claims the new Gurkha sits on a new ladder frame chassis and also gets a new suspension set up. Force has updated the styling of the Gurkha as well and now offers the SUV in a three-door or five-door body style available in two variants.

The Gurkha is powered by 2.6-litre diesel engine which develops 83bhp and 230Nm of torque. The engine which now complies with BS-IV norms, comes mated to a 5-speed manual which sends power to the 4x4 drive system.

In terms of mechanical changes, the suspension set up of the car at the front includes new independent struts with gas-charged shock and an anti-roll bar, while the rear new multi link setup with gas-charged hydraulic shocks with an anti-roll bar.

The styling updates include a completely new front end with a new front grille and bumper, while the rear bumper has also been changed. All-terrain tyres are now offered as standard fitment, however the rest of the vehicle’s structure and design remains similar to the previous model. The cabin has received changes like a new three-spoke steering wheel design, with a new centre console and new switchgear for the AC.

The Gurkha is offered in two variants which include ‘Xpedition’ and ‘Xplorer’. The Xpedition is available in both three and five door body styles and only gets rear-wheel drive. The Xpedition variant is offered only as a five door and comes as a 4x4 with low-range gearbox and also gets front and rear diff-locks. The three door model offered with the Xpedition trim which can be equipped as a hard top or a soft top and a five or eight seat configuration. The five door models is only available as a hard top.
