The BYD Denza Z features advanced steer-by-wire technology, eliminating the traditional mechanical link between the steering wheel and front axle.
At the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, BYD's premium brand Denza unveiled its latest concept car, the Denza Z, a sleek electric coupe aimed at rivalling the Porsche 911. The Denza Z features advanced steer-by-wire technology, eliminating the traditional mechanical link between the steering wheel and front axle. This innovation allows the steering wheel to fold away under the dashboard when not in use, offering a spacious, lounge-like cabin experience. Additionally, the Denza Z incorporates BYD's e3 technology and the DiSus-M body control system, which uses magnetorheological dampers for rapid suspension adjustments, enhancing ride comfort and handling. With its futuristic design and cutting-edge features, the Denza Z showcases BYD's commitment to innovation in the electric vehicle market.
The Denza Z embodies the spirit of a sportscar with angular headlights, low stance, and a prominent front lip. Its streamlined and energetic design comes in both coupe and convertible forms.

The compact two-door shape features a tapered cabin that enhances its muscular rear. Distinctive elements such as large, striking wheels, frameless windows, as well as integrated door handles, further amplify its bold, sporty character.
The Denza Z concept pushes the boundaries of automotive innovation by replacing the conventional steering mechanism with a steer-by-wire system, eliminating any physical connection between the steering wheel and front wheels. This cutting-edge setup enables the steering wheel to retract seamlessly into the dashboard when not in use – an unconventional approach that prioritises versatility and tech integration over traditional driving dynamics, making it ideal for users who see their vehicle as a flexible personal space.
Also included is the Disus-M system, an upgraded iteration of the Disus-Z. This magnetorheological suspension system continuously adjusts to the road in real time, altering the suspension in less than 10 milliseconds to optimise both comfort and driving dynamics. However, official powertrain specifications have not been disclosed. Several market reports suggest that it may use the same electric drive units as the BYD Han L and Tang L.
The all-electric four-seater coupe is being positioned as a potential rival to the forthcoming electric Porsche 911. Making its global debut at the Shanghai Auto Show, the concept turned heads with its sleek profile and vibrant blue exterior. While a design patent for the model has been filed in India, BYD has yet to announce any plans to introduce the vehicle to that market.
