Of late, the demand for self-drive rental cars has witnessed an exponential growth in India. Over the last couple of years, there have been one too many self-mobility service providers that have entered the market. The recent addition to this ever growing list is the Hyderabad-based start-up ‘Driven by you’. But, unlike the conventional, their business model works differently. And they’re doing that by clubbing coffee with cars and bikes.

The firm has introduced a unique concept as it recently launched its ‘Driven Café’ in Hyderabad. The concept here is to serve the customers with the world’s finest coffee before handing out keys of cars or bikes or even bicycles to them. And based on how much you’re willing to spend, you can take cars ranging from a Tata Nano to a Porsche 911! Similarly, for motorcyclists, you can choose between an Activa and a Triumph Rocket III. We would love to know what all cars and motorcycles are offered in between, but as of now, the company claims that its fleet is delicately balanced to appeal to entrepreneurs, business, casual, recreational and sports vehicle enthusiasts. Still, just to give you a rough idea, currently the firm has 150 cars, 50 motorcycles and 7 bicycles in its fleet. This will of course grow in the coming time.

Drive Cafe IndiaAt the moment, the firm’s self-mobility services can be availed from Rs 299 to Rs 29,999.  Just make sure you have a valid driving license, Aadhaar card and a credit card though.  As of now, Driven is only operating in Hyderabad & Secunderabad, Vizag & Vijayawada, although it will expand its fleet to 3,000 cars and 1,500 bikes over the next three years in two phases. Phase 1 will see the firm enter markets in Chennai, Benglauru, Goa, New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chandigarh, Jaipur & Udaipur. Phase 2 includes Kolkatta, Bhubaneswar, Nagpur, Lucknow, and Shimla.

Overall, the business model runs more like a car club than a car rental firm. And given the expansive range of cars and motorcycles, and coffee, they have on offer, the founders of the company believe this new format will cater to every class of the society – without pinching their wallets.
