Ford will officially enter the cross-hatchback segment very soon.
The Ford Freestyle cross-hatchback will launch in India on April 26, 2018. The car will be positioned below the EcoSport in Ford’s high riding vehicle lineup.
The Freestyle is based on the Figo hatchback, but sports a different look. Its suspension has been raised by 15mm, the track is wider and the car sits on larger 185/60 R15 tyres. There is also a new bold bumpers and a new design for the fog lamp housing, along with plastic cladding all around that grant it a semi-rugged vibe.
The car will launch with a new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Dragon petrol motor which is also expected to power the Figo and Aspire in future. This new 1.2-litre in the Freestyle is tuned to develop 94bhp of power and 120Nm of torque. In the diesel department, the Freestyle will continue with Ford’s familiar 1.5-litre engine generating 98bhp and 215Nm. A 5-speed manual gearbox will be standard with no automatic option on offer.
On the inside, the Freestyle borrows its dashboard from the Figo/Aspire, however, cabin and upholstery colours are new and fit & finish levels have been improved as well. Also, Ford’s 6.5-inch touchscreen with Ford SYNC 3 is offered on the top-end model.
