General Motors has recalled the Chevrolet Cruze in India for a loss of ignition problem.

General Motors India has made a voluntary recall of the Chevrolet Cruze sedan. The company has found that some of the vehicles have experienced loss of ignition or engine stall at low vehicle speeds.

The Chevrolet Curse units that were manufactured between 2009 – 2011 are the ones that have been affected with the problem. General Motors has claimed that the company will call up customers to notify them if their vehicle has been affected. Customers will be asked to take their vehicles to their nearest Chevrolet service dealership for inspection with a prior appointment.

“We are committed to putting our customers at the center of everything we do and providing safe, high-quality vehicles. If we foresee a potential issue, we ensure that it is corrected as soon as possible” said Markus Sternberg, Vice President – Aftersales, General Motors India

“As we are aware, [the component] does not affect the safety of the vehicle but we want to make sure that our customers experience the right performance from their vehicles”, he added.

The manufacturer has claimed to be working with the service network in India to make the exercise of the recall as smooth as possible for customers and has also stated that repairs or replacement are estimated to take no more than one hour. There will be an option of pick up and drop and will be done free of charge for all customers at all General Motors India service centres across the country.
