Ford has unveiled the third generation of their popular hatchback, Focus RS, at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland today.

The Focus RS is powered by a 2.3 Litre EcoBoost engine that produces in excess of 320PS of power. Brembo is the preferred brake supplier while tyres are supplied by French manufacturer Michelin.

“The all-new Focus RS is a serious machine with high-performance technology and innovative engineering that sets new benchmarks for driving exhilaration on the road and track,” said Raj Nair, group vice president, Global Product Development, Ford Motor Company.

“The RS line has a proud history of technical breakthroughs that have migrated to mainstream Fords to benefit all of our customers, and the new Focus RS is no exception. It’s a great example of our passion for innovation through performance and creating vehicles that make people’s hearts pound.”

The Focus RS boasts of Ford Performance All-Wheel-Drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring that offers improved handling capabilities and traction. It can manage the car’s front/rear torque split, and control the side-to-side torque distribution on the rear axle.

The hatch comes with four different driving modes that can be selected from a switch located alongside the gear lever. The modes are: Normal, Sport, Track and Drift.

Yep, you read that right. If you feel like burning rubber, take the Focus RS to a racetrack and the Drift mode will configure the torque distribution to achieve controlled oversteer drifts.

Focus RS will enter production later this year with all models manufactured at company’s facility in Saarlouis, Germany.
