In spite of the government's efforts to discourage it, individuals in India continue to defy the law by giving their cars a personal touch via modifications. The Internet is rife with such examples. From the 1970s through the 1990s, Hindustan Motors was a household name in India. The Hindustan Motors Ambassador was a popular model, while another popular sedan was the Contessa. The Contessa may be a sedan, but it borrows heavily from the visual vocabulary of muscle cars. The Vauxhall VX Series sedan on which it is based is widely regarded as a classic vehicle in India. It has a massive hood and a boxy shape. Collectors love this vehicle, and many have made custom upgrades to it. So far, most of the automobile's customisations have focused on giving it a muscle car appearance.

The sedan's original grille has been replaced with one built specifically for it. The front lights are brand new, too. The aftermarket bulbs are spherical and made of LED, with LED DRL already included. Completely redesigned from the ground up, the standard bumper now has a sleek lower lip for an aggressive stance.

This sedan's hood has also undergone some cosmetic changes. When looking at the car from the side, you can see that the factory steel wheels have been changed with BMW-style alloy ones. The front wheels are 18 inches and the back are 19 inches. This is useful for imitating the posture of a muscle automobile. It was necessary to alter the fender to accommodate the bigger tyres. The car's paint treatment is one of its main attractions. High-gloss black paint covers the whole vehicle, giving it a unique appearance on the road.

There is now a spoiler on the lip of the trunk. All references to Hindustan Motors and Contessa have been erased. There are several shiny chrome accents on the vehicle. Changes have also been made to the bumper at the back.

Modified Hindustan Contessa: Interior

This car's instrument panel is a Chevrolet Optra unit. The dashboard and steering wheel hasn't changed. The car's touchscreen infotainment system and audio system are also aftermarket additions. Black leatherette covers each seat, which was taken from a Skoda Laura. The dark brown fabric has also been used to cover the roof liner.
