According to Honda's official website, the introductory price of the Amaze won't be available from August 1, 2018.

The second-gen model of the Honda Amaze was launched in May 2018, and suffice it to say that the compact-sedan has become the best-selling Honda vehicle in the country since then. At the time of the launch, the new Amaze had an introductory price of Rs 5.59 lakh (ex-showroom). However, now that the demand is high, Honda is planning to increase the price of the compact-sedan, starting from August 2018.

As of now, Honda hasn’t announced the price hike officially. However, the company’s official website clearly indicates that an increase in prices is imminent. On the website, there’s an ad-strip that says, ‘Book (the Amaze) before 31st July, 2018 and avail introductory price of Rs 5,59,900.’ On the basis of this, it’s understood that the Amaze will get dearer from next month.

The Honda Amaze is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version is powered by a 1.2-litre i-VTEC unit that churns out 88bhp and 110Nm of torque. The diesel engine, on the other hand, is a 1.5-litre mill that develops 99bhp and 200Nm of torque. Both the engines come mated to a five-speed manual transmission as standard, while both get CVT as optional. The introduction of a CVT with the diesel variant also makes Amaze the only diesel car in its segment to have such an engine and gearbox configuration.

Currently, the Amaze petrol variants are priced between Rs 5.59 lakh and Rs 7.99 lakh, whereas the prices of the diesel variants start at Rs 6.69 lakh and go up to Rs 8.99 lakh – all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. As for the competition, the Amaze competes with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and Volkswagen Ameo.
