Here’s everything you need to know about Honda’s new CR-V that will make it market entry tomorrow.

Honda will finally be launching the new CR-V in India tomorrow. Now, historically the CR-V has never really been a hot seller in India although it met with favourable verdicts everywhere. But with the launch of this fifth-generation model, all of that is about to change. For this time around, the CR-V is also going to be made available with the option of a diesel powertrain. Yes, you read that right. There will be a Honda CR-V diesel this time around that is powered by Honda’s 1.6 litre, four cylinder turbo diesel engine that is good for 118bhp of max power and 300Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a nine-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The CR-V diesel will be available with all-wheel drive.

There will of course be a petrol version of the CR-V on offer as well that will be powered by a 2.0 litre, four cylinder engine with a power output of 154bhp along with 189Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a CVT autobox. The Honda CR-V petrol will be available with front-wheel drive as standard.

Powertrain options aside, the CR-V like earlier feels very premium inside out. The car is spacious, has a comfortable ride and comes well equipped to compete with vehicles in its segment.

We have in fact driven the new CR-V and you can read all about it here – 2018 Honda CR-V Review: First Drive

We suspect the new CR-V will be priced very close to the Toyota Fortuner in the premium SUV space. So, to put things into perspective, we have also compared the CR-V diesel with the Fortuner diesel. And you can watch the video below.

The only piece of the puzzle that remains for the new CR-V now is its pricing. While there has been quite a lot of speculation. We hope Honda prices it competitively, although Honda is known to price its products in a premium manner. And considering that the current petrol CR-V retails between Rs. 24.39 lakh to Rs. 26.68 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), expect the new vehicle to be priced with a slight premium, which would put it bang on Toyota Fortuner money.
