Hyundai is eyeing the seven-seater crossover SUV segment and planning to launch the Alcazar in the coming weeks. The seven-seater crossover SUV, based on the Hyundai Creta, is likely to hit showroom floors with pricing details by the first week of May 2021.

After teasing the name of its upcoming seven-seater SUV, the Alcazar has been listed on the manufacturer's official website. And in a recent development, sources close to AutoX confirm that the Korean seven-seater SUV, Hyundai Alcazar, will make its global debut sometime in the first week of April 2021. The pricing announcement will soon follow in the coming weeks.

Hyundai Alcazar will be a Creta based seven-seater SUV, which will be positioned alongside the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, and Mahindra XUV500. However, going by the trend, a possibility of a six-seater option (with captain seats) cannot be ruled out. The new three-row SUV is most likely to share the drivetrain options with the Hyundai Creta, i.e the Alcazar could benefit from an option of a petrol engine, something which is missing in the Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV500.

it's not unlikely that the Hyundai Alcazar may make its debut with the same range of engine and gearbox options as the Creta, which would include a 1.5-litre diesel, a petrol engine, and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine, however, in a different state of tune. The gearbox options could be the same six-speed manual as standard with both petrol and diesel motors. Customers looking for the convenience of an automatic could opt for a CVT, with the 1.5-litre petrol engine, or a six-speed torque converter automatic, with the 1.5-litre diesel. The 1.4-litre turbo-petrol could be offered exclusively with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Creature comforts such as ventilated seats, automatic headlamps and wipers, electric parking brake, paddle shifters could be on offer with the Hyundai Alcazar. Hyundai’s connected tech – Blue Link – will make its way in Alcazar's feature list.

The pricing is expected to be announced by the first week of May 2021 and could possibly be Rs 1 or 1.2 lakh above the Hyundai Creta. This could put the Hyundai Alcazar in the Rs 11.5 – 19 lakh (ex-showroom) price range.
