Hyundai launches a new Sport line-up for the Venue with 5 variants on offer. The prices of the new Hyundai Venue IMT range between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 11.08 lakh (ex-showroom).

After revealing earlier this month that it will launch a clutchless manual transmission variant of the Venue, Hyundai has now launched the new Venue IMT in India along with the introduction of a new Sport variant of the compact SUV. The new transmission technology, Intelligent Manual Transmission (IMT), essentially has the same six-speed manual gearbox of the Venue 1.0-litre turbo petrol. But with the IMT system, the clutch pedal has been done away with for a Transmission Control Unit (TCU) that incorporates an Intention Sensor and a hydraulic actuator (much like that of an AMT gearbox).

These components are synchronised to work in tandem to deliver seamless manual gear changes without the driver being required to depress a clutch pedal. Essentially, when the gear lever is even slightly moved on-the-go, the Intention sensor detects an upshift or downshift and sends an indication to the TCU to engage the clutch assembly. The TCU then signals the hydraulic actuator to form hydraulic pressure, which is then sent to the concentric slave cylinder through a clutch tube. The concentric slave cylinder then uses the hydraulic pressure to engage and disengage the clutch before and after a gear change.

The IMT gearbox allows drivers the joys of an engaging driving experience associated with a manual transmission on open roads, without the hassles of having to clutch in and out constantly in heavy traffic conditions. Like an AMT, the IMT transmission, too, does not compromise fuel efficiency over a conventional manual transmission.

The other good news here is that the Venue IMT is also being offered in a new Sport trim, which is based on the SX and SX (O) trims. The new Sport variant in addition to the equipment and features of the SX and SX (O) trims offers a new dual-tone paint option for titan grey body colour with a phantom black coloured roof. The Sport trim also brings with it a Sport emblem, a glossy black front grille with a red insert, red brake callipers, red inserts on the wheel arches and body cladding, dark grey roof rails and front bumper garnish, a new steering wheel with red stitching (not available in the Venue diesel SX Sport variant), metal pedals, red stitching on the upholstery and on the IMT gear lever, red inserts on knobs, and new dark grey upholstery.

The new Hyundai Venue Sport is available in a total of five variants: 1.0-litre IMT SX, 1.0-litre IMT SX (O), 1.0-litre DCT SX+, 1.5-litre diesel MT SX and 1.5-litre diesel MT SX (O).

The new Hyundai Venue IMT is also available in more affordable non-Sport variants, in standard SX and SX (O) variants.
