Hyundai has left the nomenclature of its upcoming Santro successor to Hyundai loyalists across the country; over four lakh votes received so far.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd. has announced the interim result of its ongoing mega naming campaign. Titled ‘Naamkaran’, the campaign has been initiated by Hyundai for its upcoming family car, codenamed the 'AH2', wherein participants can vote for their favourite name suggestion through the brand's multiple media platforms.

So far, ‘Santro’ seems to be the top pick among the participants as it is leading with 201,568 votes, followed by 'i5', 'Splash' and 'Saneon'. The lucky winner of this contest will stand a chance to win the car at the launch ceremony, which is scheduled for October 23, 2018. While the 'Naamkaran' campaign began on 16th August 2018, participants have till 25th September 2018 to send in their entries. Hyundai will start the pre-bookings of the car just a day after its media release, that is, from October 10. The pre-bookings will be accepted till October 22, a day before its launch.

Keeping in mind the upcoming stringent road safety norms, the AH2 has been built a lot safer and will be a more premium entry-level offering than the Eon, which it will replace in Hyundai's current line-up. Instead of using Eon's PA platform, the AH2 has been developed on Hyundai's more rigid HA platform which also formed the base of the previous-gen i10. The AH2 will perhaps also see dual airbags, ABS and rear parking sensors as part of its standard fitment.
