JLR's Pivotal vehicle subscription scheme allows customers to swap vehicles every six months. It's aimed at providing a feasible alternative to traditional car ownership and leasing options in the UK.

In a bid to cater to growing customer demand for monthly payment-based plans instead of full-time vehicle ownership, Jaguar Land Rover has come out with a new 'Pivotal' car subscription scheme. Backed by InMotion – JLR’s venture capital and mobility services arm Pivotal has been launched as an 'all-inclusive, no-commitment' premium subscription scheme that will allow customers to experience a majority of JLR's products without actually purchasing them.

Pivotal by Jaguar Land Rover

Initially, models like the Land Rover Discovery Sport, Discovery, the Range Rover family (the Evoque, Velar, Range Rover, & Range Rover Sport), Jaguar F-PACE, and the I-PACE will be offered under this scheme. At a later stage, new models like the Defender and Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) versions of the Discovery Sport and Evoque will also be included.

Coming back to the features of the Pivotal scheme, customers will have the option of choosing from different membership tiers (Blue, Indigo, Violet, and Ultraviolet). However, irrespective of the tier chosen, a customer will have to shell out a single monthly payment (after paying a one-time subscription fee) that will cover everything from the rental cost, insurance, and tax to servicing and repairs. To offer maximum convenience, a customer can change his / her membership tier anytime and can also pause the subscription (on a monthly basis). Plus, the vehicle can be switched for any other JLR model (it should be included in the scheme) every six months.

According to JLR, 18% of drivers prefer 'no-commitment subscriptions' over purchasing a vehicle, and it predicts that by 2025, nearly 10% of all new vehicle sales in the USA and Europe would be based on subscription models.
