The wait is finally over. The Kia Carens MPV will be unveiled in the next two weeks and we suspect the launch will be held early next year.
When the Hyundai Alcazar was launched, it was obvious that Kia – Hyundai’s sister concern – will soon come up with its version of a three-row seven-seater MPV. The upcoming project was internally dubbed the KY, and the test mule of the same has been spotted a number of times already.
The Korean carmaker has now announced that the upcoming three-row MPV, which has been dubbed ‘Carens’ will be unveiled globally on December 16.
The upcoming Kia Carens will be the fourth product which will be introduced by Kia India. The MPV is likely to share the underpinning with the Kia Seltos. The powertrains are likely to be shared between the Seltos and the Carens as well. The petrol variant is likely to get the 2.0-litre petrol engine which we have experienced in the Hyundai Alcazar.
The overall dimensions of the Carens will mostly be similar to the Hyundai Alcazar. The wheel size, wheelbase and track of the Carens are likely to be identical to the Alcazar. The Carens is expected to debut with six and seven-seat options, with the middle-row getting the option of captain seats.
The Carens is likely to feature a panoramic sunroof, all-LED headlamps, and other premium features. Kia’s car connected tech will be offered with the Carens as well.
The price announcement of the Kia Karens is likely to be held in Q1 of 2022. We’re expecting the Carens’ prices too be at par with the Hyundai Alcazar, which puts the upcoming MPV in the Rs. 16.50-21.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
