Before unveiling the updated Carens on May 8, 2025, Kia has released a teaser of a new car called the ‘Clavis’. The short video reveals that while sharing some visual similarities with the Carens, the upcoming model features notable upgrades—most visibly, a larger sunroof. This has fuelled speculation that the Clavis could be a more refined, premium iteration of the Carens platform, aimed at customers looking for enhanced features and a more upscale experience. With the current Carens priced between Rs 10.60 lakh and Rs 19.50 lakh (ex-showroom), the Clavis is likely to command a higher base price. Rather than replacing the Carens, the Clavis is expected to be offered alongside it, broadening Kia’s appeal across multiple segments and price points. Let's see what this new Kia car could bring to the table.
Though built on the Carens platform, the upcoming Kia Clavis is set to break away from the MPV’s familiar design language, with a tougher, more SUV-like appearance. While official design specifics remain under wraps, the latest teaser hints at a bolder, more upright stance that leans heavily into rugged styling. Other styling elements include LED projector headlights paired with sleek LED DRLs, redesigned front and rear bumpers and fresh alloy wheel patterns.

Despite these visual enhancements, the Clavis is expected to retain proportions similar to the Carens, ensuring practicality while dialling up the road presence and appeal for SUV-loving customers.
Positioned as a more upscale alternative to the Carens, the Kia Clavis is expected to offer a significantly richer feature set and a more premium interior experience. A revamped dashboard and an updated centre console are likely to be on offer.

The teaser confirms a panoramic sunroof and the inclusion of Level-2 ADAS. Other anticipated features include cooled wireless phone charging, dual 10.25-inch displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, and a premium-grade audio setup.
Performance-wise, the Clavis is likely to offer the same trio of engines found in the Carens, including a reliable 1.5-litre NA petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel. The transmission options will comprise manual, iMT, DCT, and automatic.
